FINDS : MOTTO SKIRTED LEGGINGS

From the time I first saw them, maybe 18 months to 2 years ago, I was besotted with Eileen Fisher's Skirted Leggings.  An item that might most obviously be worn as sports wear, or casual wear spoke to me (loudly) suggesting that they might just work for dressy occasions, the office... everywhere!

So began my search, were quality skirted leggings to be found in Australia?

Motto Bella Jersey Pant

I am pleased to say that yes, thanks to Australian brand, Motto, we Aussie girls can partake of the skirted leggings goodness.  The Bella Jersey Pant is a beautiful stretch jersey.  The waist band is a very comfortable and stretch elastic which sits flat and smooth.  They are a machine washable and low maintenance item - no ironing required.

I tried a pair in a larger size earlier in the week and am now awaiting my size to arrive and being quite petite (ok... short) I expect the skirt to be a little longer on me.

They are a transeasonal piece, and I expect to wear them most seasons.  Vary the footwear, ankle boots in Autumn, sandals in Spring.  Dress up with a draped top and jacket, dress down with a couple of layered tops or a casual tunic.  Need I say more :)

And if that wasn't enough, take a look a the Motto Nevada Pant.  Add a gorgeous white shirt and cropped tuxedo jacket and I have my go to wedding guest outfit sorted:)

OUTFIT : A CHANGE OF SILHOUETTE AND AN UPSCALE BACKPACK

My "go to" silhouette is a skinny leg and a more voluminous or drapey topper but every now and again it's fun to play with different silhouettes.

lantern dress : wishstone
draped merino vest : blue illusion
leather back pack : serra
microsuede ankle boots : rivers

I would normally keep volume away from my lower half, but I find this silhouette quite flattering.  Proportions play an important role in making this work, with the leggings being the 'third piece' that finishes the outfit.  Without the leggings the outfit didn't look half as interesting... in my humble opinion :)

The back pack is a new wardrobe addition and was based more on practicality than style.   There are often times when being able to go "hands free" would be extremely useful and now that there is a wide selection of upscale backpacks, it seemed like a good time to try one out.  I will let you know if it turns out to be the workhorse I expect it to be.

How often do you mix it up with your outfit silhouettes?  Or are you like me and generally stick to something tried and true?

Thanks for visiting.

OUTFIT : GREY KNIT WRAP

Thinking maybe I should rename this blog The Absent Blogger!  Despite irregular posts, I am getting dressed each day, and enjoying it.  Between my MIL being in hospital, my young Master getting the latest school bug, and work, blogging has taken a back seat recently.

So here is quick outfit post.  Winter has come to a close but Spring is not quite here.  This grey knit wrap was a little pick me up / refresher piece to help make it through the last of the cold weather.  It has been a long cold winter and I am looking forward to wearing some lighter Spring layers.

Those of you in the Southern Hemisphere, what's on your radar for Spring?  And for readers in the Northern Hemisphere, what were your Spring go to pieces for 2015?

If you are interested in more outfit posts, I do post regularly to Instagram.  Feel free to follow me HERE.
